Traveling Gavel for

Virginia Masonic District 27

As of May 4, 2023, the Traveling Gavel is in the possession of Nottoway Lodge No. 147

There was a contingent of eight Brothers from Amelia Lodge No. 101 in attendance at the February 20, 2023 Stated of Farmville Lodge No. 41 for the purpose of moving the Traveling Gavel on its appointed journey.  However, lacking a stationed officer in their midst, Amelia was unable to claim that illustrious trophy.  There were four Brethren in attendance from Nottoway Lodge No. 147, including Worshipful Dan Fink, and they proudly carried the gavel back to Crew with a promise from the Amelia Brothers that Nottoway wouldn’t hold claim to it for long.

The Traveling Gavel for the 27th Masonic District has moved to St. John’s Lodge No. 144 from Farmville Lodge No. 41 with a visit by the Worshipful Master and five Brothers last night, August 15, 2022.

The Traveling Gavel for the 27th Masonic District has returned to Farmville Lodge No. 41 from Amelia Lodge No. 101 with a visit by the Worshipful Master and five Brothers. It will be available for pickup by visitors on Monday, April 18th. Come one, come all and join the Farmville gang for supper at Applebee’s at 6:00 PM followed by Lodge at 7:30 PM.

The Traveling Gavel for the 27th Masonic District is currently in the Custody of Amelia Lodge No. 101!

The Traveling Gavel was picked up February 21, 2022, by Amelia No. 101.  Four lodges visited Farmville Lodge No. 41 last night to pick up the Traveling Gavel.  South Hill Lodge No. 297 had 4 members, St. Johns Lodge No. 144 had 4 and Cumberland Lodge No. 283 had 4.  But Amelia Lodge No. 101 had seven members and therefore took possession of the Traveling Gavel.  There were 20 Visitors attending the meeting in Farmville No. 41 Last night.  As an aside and as reported by Farmville Lodge No. 41 Secretary, William Fore, the last time there were this many Masons in Lodge was 1982.
